Blumags has entered into a strategic agreement with H. Henriksen AS, a globally recognized supplier of specialized solutions for military and maritime operations. Under the agreement, Blumags becomes the exclusive supplier of magnetic products within Henriksen's REBS (Rapid Entering and Boarding Systems) portfolio, establishing the foundation for the REBS-Blumags collaboration and strengthening the offering available to military and maritime users worldwide.

Blumags now offers magnets with a new level of corrosion resistance that will meet and exceed virtually any lifetime requirements in underwater environments. The design is based on a fully sealed construction and materials with supreme corrosion resistance. These magnets are intended for applications where replacement is difficult or not feasible — such as mounting sensors for mooring line monitoring or sonar equipment on offshore wind installations.

Blumags' new Magnet Calculator helps you select the right magnet for your job by predicting holding force and safety factor based on real-world parameters like air gap and plate thickness. Try it now.

Learn how magnets by Blumags are engineered for full customization across applications like underwater robotics, ROV tooling, and subsea repair. Featuring real-world use cases, this post highlights how users adapt Flipper, Willy, and Moby magnets to their unique missions.

In an effort to prevent oil spill on the South African beaches, our Willy 500 kg magnets were recently deployed in the high-stakes scenario of the MV Ultra Galaxy, which ran aground and broke up off the coast of South Africa on 9 July 2024.

In response to the growing demand from various sectors, including the military, security forces, and law enforcement, we've expanded our portfolio of marine magnets to include Tactical editions for all our handheld sizes.

A new version of our popular diving magnet, the Willy 500, has joined the Blumags family. Crafted from the same stainless steel and powerful neodymium as all our other magnets, the Tactical Willy 500 maintains the high standards that Blumags represents. What sets the Tactical edition apart is its sleek, matte black coating.

We recently sent our latest innovation, the ROV magnet named Moby, out for field trials with our development partner DeepOcean. The result was overwhelmingly positive, as the magnet proved to be easy to operate yet robust and able to stay in place even when pulled with full thruster force in all directions.

Blumags unveils Moby, a groundbreaking magnet for ROV applications with a holding force of up to 3200 kg. Designed as a robust and lightweight solution, Moby eliminates the need for complicated conservation procedures and offers modularity for easy customization. DeepOcean has recently placed the first order for Moby, and the magnet has been delivered to their offshore supply base in Haugesund, Norway for an imminent offshore operation.

Blumags have designed and delivered tailored magnets with extended lifetime for Volue's mooring line monitoring system. The system will be deployed on the mooring lines of NOV APL's turret for the Barossa FPSO. We were able to tweak our design to meet the specific requirements through enhanced metal alloys, improved assembly design and custom-made top plate interface.

You asked for it and we responded. In our survey of professional users the most commonly requested additional feature was this user-friendly dive grip. Now you can use the heavy-duty Willy magnets not only to anchor equipment and lines but also as a convenient brace when working with tools or in an adverse current.

One of the most exciting parts of what we do is learning about all the different use cases that our clients find for our magnets, and it continues to fascinate us to explore how this technology can be such a natural fit into industries of all kinds. One application – perhaps lesser-known than others - is as mooring points for work boats. We recently chatted with one of our clients to understand more about why the magnets are so useful and thought we'd share some of those insights as they might be broadly applicable.

Nor-shipping is a large maritime trade fair that is arranged every second year in Lillestrøm, Norway. It features a 21,000 square metre exhibition space and attracted some 50,000 visitors last time it was held.

...and so does the magnet.

One of our customers recently came to us with a problem that required an extraordinary pull force sideways. This required three of our strongest magnets (Willy 800 kg | 1750 lbs) working together in one semi-rigid assembly.

Our magnets can be used for hundreds of applications. One of those is to secure oil containment booms to the hullside of a ship that is leaking oil. We were invited to present Blumags to the personnel responsible for the local oil spill response in Hvaler, close to the Swedish border.

One year since the official launch of Blumags in 2020, we are proud to introduce the new generation of Willy diving magnets. We made a few incremental improvements that will make the world's best diving magnets (according to our customers) even better.

One of our Willy 500 models is now sitting on the wreck of the German WW2 heavy cruiser Blücher in the Oslo Fjord. Mounted on it is a yardstick used to measure the size of a crack in the hull over time. The magnet was mounted by ROV in an operation led by the Norwegian Coastal Administration (Kystverket).

As a part of our ongoing Innovation Norway project, we are inviting you, dear visitor, to participate in a user survey. Whether you are a customer or not, we want your opinion.

We can proudly announce that Blumags is now backed by Innovation Norway. They are a government-owned organization that supports businesses with promising ideas to develop their products and reach out to the market. The funding enables us to accelerate the Blumags mission: Boosting the efficiency of underwater operations!

On a clear spring day in March 2020, we met up with three highly skilled divers to test the brand new prototypes of diver magnets called Flipper and Willy - each named after a prominent marine mammal. The team gathered by the beach in…
