oil Boom Magnets
When securing an oil boom around a leaking shipwreck, attaching it at the water level offers a significant advantage. This eliminates the gap between the boom and the hull, preventing oil from escaping into the environment.
Depending on the size of the boom and weather conditions, you can choose between 500 kg or 800 kg of holding force (1100 lbs or 1750 lbs). Keep in mind that the actual holding force may be slightly reduced due to air gaps from rust, paint, or uneven hull surfaces. Be sure to remove thick layers of marine growth before attaching the magnet.
Simply attach the magnet to the hull and connect the oil boom. For large tidal ranges, you can allow the boom to move up and down along a rope between two magnets.
